New Hampshire Flex State Profile
The Technical Assistance and Services Center (TASC), a program of the National Rural Health Resource Center, provides technical assistance for the Rural Hospital Medicare Flexibility (Flex) Program in the form of information, tools and resources. State Flex Programs benefit from sharing information with one another and the Flex State Profiles are meant to be a method to encourage that sharing.

Survey Results
Support participation in quality reporting and benchmarking initiatives to include the New England Performance Improvement Project (NEPI) with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Rural Network and the creation of resources to increase the number of CAHs with a staff member who is a a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
Support critical access hospitals (CAHs) in planning and implementing the Financial Improvement Network (FIN) to employ evidence-based strategies for improving financial performance and supporting CAH team participation in Lean/performance improvement training.
Support the development of ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) stroke systems of care and support the partnering of critical access hospitals (CAHs) with public health for community needs assessments.
The New England Performance Improvement Project (NEPI) network was developed in 2004 as a collaboration among the Flex Programs in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts. The network, coordinated through the New England Rural Health RoundTable (NERHRT), utilizes a portion of each state’s Flex grant funds to offer quality improvement resources for critical access hospitals (CAHs). To date, network activities have included an expansion of the RoundTable Web site, hosting an annual performance improvement summit, funding individual hospital projects, and conducting rural-relevant research.
