The Rural Healthcare Manager Academy (RHMA) was a pilot program conducted in Pennsylvania between September 2007-June 2008 for all levels of rural managers employed in Pennsylvania Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) as well as rural Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel. The content for this 30-hour program was derived from findings of an organizational assessment of Pennsylvania CAHs‘ workforce development needs. The purpose of this program was to provide professional enrichment and recognition opportunities for rural healthcare personnel that might re-energize them and increase awareness of their essential role in their organization‘s success.
