A Roadmap for Improving the Quality of Care in Critical Access Hospitals

A group of rural quality experts participated in a planning summit to develop a strategy for improving the quality of care in Nebraska’s critical access hospitals (CAHs) in 2009. The participants included quality improvement coordinators and administrators from CAHs as well as representatives from the Nebraska Hospital Association, the Office of Rural Health, CAH network coordinators, the quality improvement organization (QIO), and the Nebraska Rural Health Association. At this one-day meeting, the participants developed a document entitled, “A Roadmap for Improving the Quality of Care in CAHs. This document contains six recommendations.
