Templates for Charity Care and Bad Debt
The West Virginia Flex Program in collaboration with the West Virginia Hospital Association Critical Access Hospital (CAH) Network developed templates on charity care and bad debt. Templates feature network member policies, collections of best practices, and, where no best practices could be identified, a practice using input from the network work group was developed. Templates were reviewed by a certified public accountant firm, the fiscal intermediary, to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations.
