Indiana Flex Program Success Story

FLEX funding enabled three critical access hospitals to connect to the existing Union Hospital telemedicine network. The project provided access to timely, high-quality mental health consultations at Hamilton Center, a local community mental health center, via interactive tele-medicine. Prior to implementation a comprehensive and site-specific training program was developed in collaboration with key personnel at each critical access hospital site. Sixty-seven clinical staff members completing the program were educated regarding basic telemedicine equipment operation, site-specific tele-mental health policies and procedures, telemedicine consultation consents/privacy and confidentiality, and the tele-Mental Health referral process.
