This EMS webinar topic will focus on the building a sustainable rural EMS workforce, based off of the recently released summit guide titled, Building a Sustainable Rural Health Workforce for the 21st Century. The guide includes strategies focused on four key areas, all of which are applicable to rural EMS. This event is supported by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) and coordinated by the Technical Assistance and Services Center (TASC), a program of the National Rural Health Resource Center (The Center).

  • Recognize the key challenges facing rural health care systems in terms of workforce development and sustainability, especially in rural EMS.
  • Recall the key strategies proposed by the Rural Health Workforce Summit as they relate to innovative workforce development and sustainability in rural EMS.
  • Identify potential roles and activities for state Flex Programs to advance or achieve rural EMS workforce strategies.
