Clint MacKinney, MD, MS, Rural Health Value Program

Health care payment is transitioning from volume-based to value-based. However, to receive value-based payments, rural health care providers must provide value-laden care. How does a rural hospital begin transitioning its care processes from a volume focus to a value focus? The Rural Health Value team recommends a strategic inventory of value-based care capacities; that is, the rural hospital resources, processes, infrastructure (etc.) to deliver value-based care. This presentation describes the publically available (no cost) Value-based Care Strategic Planning Tool, a 121-item assessment of value-based care capacity.
