Rural residents experience increased health risks related to geographic, socioeconomic, environmental and other factors unique to rural communities. This research document identifies common strengths and assets commonly present in rural communities and helps the reader understand how they can accelerate changes to improve health and equity. It also offers recommendations for funders and other community partners to engage with and support rural communities to improve health and equity in ways that build upon their inherent strengths and assets. This document is one of four that complete the series.
