This report, also known as the "Rural Report", is the result of a multi-stakeholder committee convened through the National Quality Forum (NQF) to identify challenges in health care performance measurement for rural providers and to make recommendations for mitigating these challenges, particularly in the context of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) pay-for-performance programs. The resulting recommendations can help advance a thoughtful, practical, and relatively rapid integration of rural providers into CMS quality improvement efforts.
