Two Sides of the Coin: Certification, Curriculum, and Associations
Networks are often having conversations around certification, curriculum development and state associations in varying degrees in relation to sustainability. This cohort call will explore both the positives and negatives of these three topics, specifically referencing national studies and the C3 recommendations.
With certification exhibiting as the most challenging, curriculum development and state associations emerge as tightly intertwined. These three specific areas around CHWs offer no magic bullet as they are contingent upon the uniqueness of your situation along with your state’s “environment”. It is important to keep in mind the uniqueness of the CHW workforce when looking at “both sides of the coin” regarding certification, curriculum, and associations.
- Understand how intertwined certification, curriculum development, and state associations are
- Identify key features of a certification process which is responsive to the unique nature of a CHW workforce
- Describe key elements of recommended practice in curriculum design and instructional methods in CHW training
