Federal Flex Updates: June 2017

June 2017

We are working hard here in the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) as we finish Non-Competetive Continuation (NCC) grant reviews and begin the steps of the funding memo process to get new Notices of Award (NoAs) issued for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 grant year which starts September 1, 2017. I have also been working closely with our information technology developers to make improvements to the Performance Improvement and Measurement System (PIMS) for the next reporting period, also in September. These aren’t sweeping changes to PIMS; we’ve focused on tweaks and new tools to make your data entry job easier. A big thank you to the people who agreed to test the new system for me this week!

We are all looking forward to seeing you here in Bethesda, Maryland for the Flex Program Reverse Site Visit (RSV) on July 19 and 20, 2017. Thank you again to the planning committee and the hardworking folks at the Technical Assistance and Services Center (TASC) who are busy coordinating sessions and speakers. This meeting is an opportunity to learn new information and share new approaches to better help our critical access hospitals (CAHs) improve their quality of care and financial stability.

I will be learning from you at the RSV, and I want to be sure to provide the information from FORHP that you need. Let me know if you have any questions about the Flex Program and I’ll do my best to address them.
