October 2019

Hi Flex Coordinators,

We’ve been getting many reports of technical problems from people trying to complete Flex Performance Improvement and Measurement System (PIMS) reports in the last several days. This is showing up as a spinning wheel online when you try to open or save the pages or the report failing to open. I know this is very frustrating and slows down your work. Thank you to everyone who reported problems to us and to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Electronic Handbook (EHB) Contact Center. That is the best way to elevate system problems the IT folks can fix them.

As we announced on Monday, we recognize the problems caused by these IT issues, and we are extending the PIMS due date to November 7. Please continue reporting IT system problems to the Contact Center and watch the Flex Coordinators mailing list for more updates.

If you have questions about what to include in the PIMS report, please review the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 PIMS Reporting Instructions and the recording of the August 22 PIMS webinar. The PIMS Data Collection Tool is on the National Rural Health Resource Center website, and it has not changed since the PIMS questions and layout are the same as last year.

Looking ahead, November 21 is National Rural Health Day (NRHD). FORHP will be collaborating on the following NRHD events that may interest Flex participants:

  • Monday, November 18: National Institutes of Health Rural Health Day Seminar at 9:30 am Eastern Time.
  • Tuesday, November 19: Webinar on Addressing the Opioid Crisis in Rural Communities and Supporting Maternal and Child Health Care, noon Eastern Time.
  • Wednesday, November 20: RHIhub webinar on a Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) at noon Eastern Time; CDC webinar on Improving Antibiotic Stewardship in CAHs at 1 pm Eastern Time.
  • Thursday, November 21: Webcast of HRSA's Celebration of National Rural Health Day, 9:45 am to 3:00 pm.

Watch for more information about these webinars, Twitter chats, and other events on the HRSA website and in the weekly Announcements from the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy. If you aren’t on the email list you can subscribe to Rural Health Updates.

I wish you a happy fall and a happy National Rural Health Day!
