Sanpete Valley Hospital (SVH), located in Mount Pleasant, Utah, worked with Intermountain Healthcare to create a network that provides appropriate access to behavioral health. Intermountain Healthcare and SVH worked within the community to educate about mental health issues, increase access to appropriate levels of care, provide timely access to services and improve follow-up with patients through a network of prepaid service providers.

Positive Outcomes:

  • Reduced emergency visits and inpatient admissions and reduced cost to patients 
  • Increased number of patients who received necessary follow-up care quicker and maintained engagement in treatment programs longer
  • Overall net savings of the program demonstrated sustainability

Top Accomplishments:

Upon receipt of the recognition award, Sanpete Valley Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Aaron Wood, stated, “This national recognition is a result of a collective effort by many to strengthen the mental health programs in our community and to make them more widely available to those who need them. Sanpete Valley Hospital is proud to be a part of this effort because we know that providing quality health care to a community goes far beyond physical health; caring for mental health is just as important.”
