Since 2021, Ambresha has brought her experience in community health, technical assistance, and outreach, to her work with The Center where she served as a community program specialist for the Delta Region Community Health Systems (DRCHSD) program. Today, Ambresha is a community program manager with The Center’s Rural Healthcare Provider Transition (RHPTP) Project as well as a community and population health manager.
Ambresha’s connection to rural began at a very young age as she watched her mom work as a nurse. She frequently attended health fairs alongside her on the weekends throughout the Mississippi Delta. This introduction to the rural health space gave her a firsthand look at the many barriers to care that rural communities often face such as access to care, transportation, education, and financial resources. It was the needs of neighboring communities and her mom’s commitment to care that sparked her passion for rural health which continues to influence how she approaches her work today.
She went on to earn a Doctor of Healthcare Administration (DHA) from Walden University. She also holds a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Park University, a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from Jackson State University, and an associate degree in Pre-Nursing from Hinds Community College. From her extensive educational background to her experiences in state health departments, school administration, and community health care organizations, her commitment to improving the lives of rural residents and underserved populations has been at the center of her work and mission.
Ambresha lives in Central Mississippi with her husband and her dog. She is inspired by the Beyonce quote, “Don’t try to lessen yourself for the world; let the world catch up to you.” A reminder to stay true to who you are above all else.
