Angie has been a part of The Center for 30 years, providing recruitment and retention support across a variety of roles and programs including the Small Rural Hospital Improvement (SHIP) program, the Technical Assistance and Services Center (TASC) team, and The Center’s consulting subsidiary, Rural Health Innovations (RHI). Today, she serves as a lead program specialist for the Rural Healthcare Provider Transition (RHPTP) project where she supports rural health care organizations through the transition to value based care by providing education, tools, and resources related to financial risk, quality, and operational efficiency.
Angie’s family was what originally inspired her to pursue this line of work. Throughout her childhood she would often visit her uncle’s dairy farm. She found peace in spending time in the country air and experiencing the sounds and smells of the farm. She translated that feeling into a career that would play a key role in helping rural health care organizations remain financially viable, strengthen their operations, and improve the quality of care they provide. For her, knowing the impact of her work is the most meaningful and rewarding part of what she does.
Angie says the most pressing need in rural health is sustainability. Through her work on the RHPTP team, she hopes she can help protect access to essential health care services, strengthen community resilience, and ensure rural communities can continue to receive care close to home.
In her spare time Angie stays grounded by making time for the things that matter most to her: spending time with her family and dog, being outdoors, refinishing furniture, and doing home DIY projects. She lives by the idea that sometimes the simplest things in life bring the greatest happiness.
