Since 2008, Phil has ensured that The Center’s technology and communications needs are met. Having studied computer science and political science at the University of Wisconsin Superior, he uses his expertise to provide practical and informed solutions to all-things technology in his role as technology manager.
Phil manages and maintains The Center’s enterprise technology systems including Drupal website development, Microsoft Azure, Exchange, SharePoint, and the Salesforce platform. Phil also leads the technology team and acts as the primary liaison to vendors who provide managed services and development support.
Whether he is developing custom Drupal modules, managing e-commerce registrations systems for events, or utilizing data analysis tools, his work is rooted in his own personal connection to rural health. Raised in a rural mining town, Phil quickly learned how important easily accessible health care is for rural communities. While he has since moved to the city, his family still largely lives in rural areas where barriers to care still exist. In his work, Phil is interested in exploring the ways technology can improve access to specialty care and how it can provide safer ways to age-in-place.
In his spare time, you can find Phil at his home in Duluth, Minnesota running, cycling, and playing trombone with a local wind orchestra and swing band.
