Part 1- Building Trust and Confidence in your Organization from the Inside Out

Speaker: Mike Milligan, President of Legato Healthcare

Sometimes as rural health leaders, it seems like an uphill battle in communicating our organization’s vision. Despite the tremendous work of our teams, there are still misperceptions about the quality of care or depth of services we offer. This reality, coupled with the fears that patients have about returning to our hospital amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, creates a need to communicate even more to build trust and confidence in our organization.

This communication must start from within our organizations – from our leaders, employees, providers, and volunteers. They are the ambassadors of the collective impact or lasting impression from all that is seen, heard, or experienced by anyone who encounters our organization. Our role as communication champions is to seek ways to involve and engage this important audience to ensure their commitment and buy-in. Then, we’re ready to engage with our community through patient advisory groups, virtual meetings, and other outreach strategies.

Objectives:

  • Discover ways to elevate the interest and engagement of from our leaders, employees, providers, and volunteers
  • Learn to develop an ambassador program as a grassroots communications strategy
  • Learn communications strategies to share your organization’s story through patient advisory groups and in-person and virtual health education events
  • Be introduced to messages and outreach techniques that resonate with audiences in building trust and confidence to return to care
