SJ joined The Center in February 2019 and currently serves as The Center’s Human Resources Manager. In this role, SJ supports The Center’s mission by partnering with the leadership team to understand and execute the Center’s human resources and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, and retention. She also develops, leads and coordinates the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resources team, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of The Center’s mission and Learning and Growth strategies. Additionally, she leads and facilitates The Center’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategic direction initiatives.

SJ holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth. She has over 25 years of business experience ranging from non-profits and government to Fortune 500 companies. SJ has an extensive background in project management, strategic planning, sales, marketing, event and campaign management, and human resources.

She has a passion for building healthy communities and changing the narrative about mental illness. She serves on the steering committee for Make It OK, a national campaign which addresses stigma around mental illness.

SJ splits her time between her home in Hermantown, MN and her cabin in Wascott, WI. She enjoys spending time with her family and four dogs at the cabin, traveling, campfires and snowmobiling with her husband.
