Shifting to a Value-Based Health Care System

This guide is designed to offer small rural hospitals a basic overview of the key models of value-based purchasing that have been developed, and are in the process of being evaluated, to address this transformation from volume to value-based purchasing of health care services. Recommendations and strategies for managing this shift in payment structure are also included in this guide to aid rural health providers in managing the magnitude of the required changes.
