What is one Core Competency your state Flex Program is working on developing through Flex activities?

Selected Core Competency: Strengthening Quality Reporting and Improvement

Colorado Rural Health Center (CRHC) is accomplishing the activities of this Flex core competency through its monthly CAH Quality Network Webinar series, and monthly Quality Innovation Lab webinars that are focused on improving participating hospitals' HCAHPS Care Transitions score. Quality Innovation Lab webinar topics have included: Apply improvement principles, practices, A3 thinking & process; Use A3s, Relevant Charts & Tools; Root Cause Analysis and Display; Countermeasure selection; How to Capture Data. CRHC will also be addressing this objective through its annual regional Quality Improvement Workshops.

What is one activity your state is funding through SHIP?

Colorado SHIP provides partial HCAHPS reimbursement to participating hospitals. This activity is meant to improve HCAHPS scores and provide partial reimbursement of eligible HCAHPS vendor fees for inpatient surveys and data reported to QualityNet(HQR). Reimbursement is provided at the end of the grant year. Eligible invoices are partially reimbursed up to the capped amount.  Participating SHIP hospitals are also required to report on numbers/percentages for HCAHPS willingness to recommend composite scores, and how their team is focusing and working to improve on this measure.
