Core Competency: Developing Leadership and Workforce
Nebraska continues to focus on quality reporting and program improvement through several focused activities. One activity that has proven very popular is the Quality Residency Program, which was started 4 years ago. This program targets new quality improvement staff with a multi-session series of quality-focused education delivered over 10 months. We use mostly in-state experts to deliver the education to help keep costs down. Participants present a capstone at the end of the series. We are currently in our 5th series of the Program.
What is one activity your state is funding through SHIP?
All 63 SHIP (Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program) hospitals received their funds directly, so there are numerous activities taking place in Nebraska. The most common activities include those focused on quality projects and education, HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems), and coding education.
