Ohio State Flex Program

What is one Core Competency your state Flex Program is working on developing through Flex activities?

Core Competency: Strengthening Quality Reporting and Improvement

The Ohio Flex Program continues to maintain and support the Flex Quality, Financial and Operational Improvement Network (Flex QI Network) with the use of a consultant, the Chartis Center for Rural Health, for quality improvement services and training for CAHs. The Flex QI Network has existed since 2004 and is supported by subcontractors in benchmarking, web-based reporting, quality measures improvement, technical assistance, and training. Chartis also hosts trainings for our hospitals, conducts site visits to discuss progress and opportunities for improvement, and completes deep dive projects for our hospitals each year.

What is one activity your state is funding through SHIP?

One activity that the Ohio SORH is funding through SHIP is the Value-Based Purchasing Consortium, which in 2022 had eleven participating hospital members. Each member hospital receives a baseline VBP Scorecard with four domains- Clinical Care, Safety, Patient Experience, and Efficiency. The 2022-23 VBP Consortium focus was the HCAHPS domains of Communications, Staff Responsiveness, and Environments of Care. Our consultant hosted quarterly educational sessions and completed individual sessions with each hospital.
