DRCHSD Rural Health Workforce Resources: Delta Doctors and AmeriCorps NCCC

While no magic bullet will resolve the rural healthcare workforce shortage, many organizations and communities have benefited from workforce resources available through two important programs.

The Delta Doctors program allows nondomestic physicians trained in this country to work in health professional shortages or medically underserved areas for three years through a J-1 visa waiver. AmeriCorps National Civilian Conservation Corps (AmeriCorps NCCC) provides teams of young adults to provide hands-on work for short-term projects targeting initiatives such as infrastructure improvement, community outreach, and education.

In this webinar, you’ll learn about the goals, benefits, and responsibilities associated with each of these programs. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions to help you make informed decisions about the fit of these programs for your organization.

Objectives:

  • Understand the purpose, eligibility requirements, and application process for the Delta Doctors program
  • Learn about the types of projects that AmeriCorps NCCC teams can support, the responsibilities of the sponsoring organization, and the application process

Should you have any questions about this webinar please reach out to Caleb Lozinski (Clozinski@ruralcenter.org)
