This National Rural Health Information Technology (HIT) Coalition call featured information about rural health information exchange and considerations for rural health organizations such as critical access hospitals (CAH) and rural health clinics (RHC).

Following this meeting, participants were able to:

  • Recognize health information exchange and information blocking concepts.
  • Understand the health information exchange direction of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT for rural hospitals and clinics.
  • Discover initiatives shared from a rural Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO).
  • Explain how state Flex Programs could support rural health information exchange efforts.

The National Rural HIT Coalition is supported by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) and coordinated by the Technical Assistance & Services Center (TASC), a program of the National Rural Health Resource Center (The Center).
