This event will provide detailed information about the Rural Hospital Stabilization Program (RHSP), which supports rural hospitals to improve financial stability and to enhance or develop services that meet community needs and keep care close to home. RHSP is supported by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy and administered by the National Rural Health Resource Center.

Eight hospitals have been selected to participate in the first cohort of the Rural Hospital Stabilization Program, a new federal initiative designed to provide in-depth technical assistance to rural hospitals, helping them develop or enhance health care services that meet community needs and keep care close to home.

The National Rural Health Resource Center (The Center) has named Thomas Schumacher, a health care executive with extensive experience building sustainable hospital programs that prioritize patient outcomes, community well-being and workforce engagement, as the director of the Rural Hospital Stabilization Program, a new federal initiative designed to help rural hospitals improve their financial stability by enhancing or expanding health care services.

Learn new ways to ask questions to get the information you want. Identify ways to create comfortable experience for the patient during leader rounds. Learn ways to use the information to effectively coach staff.

Understand the core components and functionality of the chargemaster. Summarize how best practice hospitals use the chargemaster to increase reimbursement, lower denials and improve cash flow. Incorporate a culture of chargemaster accountability and ownership. Comprehend 2020 Final Rule impact on chargemaster codes and availability including 2021 prescribed changes.

Increase understanding of a hospital's revenue cycle from the beginning to the end. Gain practical insight on revenue cycle leading practices such as denials management, revenue integrity, and clinical documentation improvement.
