Coordinator Tools

State Offices of Rural Health (SORHs) are the official grantees of Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program (SHIP) funds and their SHIP Coordinators lead this program, at the state level, by administering these funds to implement allowable training, software, and hardware investments. SHIP Coordinators:

  • Conduct needs assessments for SHIP activities.
  • Submit applications on behalf of hospitals.
  • Receive federal funds and award to hospitals, networks, or contractors.
  • Ensure appropriate use of funds for SHIP activities.
  • Track progress and evaluate SHIP activities.
  • Prepare and submit annual reports.
