Working with the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility (Flex) Program may look different for every state, but there are several competencies that strong Flex Programs have in common. The Core Competencies for Flex Program Excellence include discussions of why these competencies have been identified, what proficiencies exist within each competency, and share a core competency self-assessment to identify your program’s strengths and opportunities. Each section of the guide also includes tools and resources to help support your program.

The MBQIP Toolkit contains resources related to the Medicare Beneficiary Quality Improvement Project (MBQIP), which is part of the Flex Program.

Two new educational videos now available from the National Rural Health Resource Center highlight the prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in the country’s rural communities and the steps that critical access hospitals and other small rural hospitals can take to improve access to much-needed pulmonary rehabilitation services.

The purpose of this event was to inform Flex Grantees about new rurally relevant EMS quality measures that resulted from a Flex-funded EMS supplement project.

By attending this TASC 90 webinar, participants learned how to be able to explain what NEMSIS is and what data is available, discovered how Flex Programs can access and use NEMSIS data, how to recognize the process the data goes through from entry to availability on the NEMSIS website, and how to understand how NEMSQA works with NEMSIS.

Resources to support hospitals interpret Medicare Beneficiary Quality Improvement Project (MBQIP) reports and make use of their data.

This guide is designed to target opportunities within the Flex Program to improve the scope of work requirements for subcontracted consultants. It will assist state programs in building greater accountability with their subcontractors to deliver more meaningful information to improve program deliverables, reporting, and demonstrating measurable program outcomes.
